Studies have shown that a dry cough can expel respiratory droplets averaging about 15 micrometers in size. When a person sneezes or coughs, the expelled particles do not immediately settle on the floor. Instead, these particles travel in the airflow for up to four minutes, covering several meters, before landing on the ground, thus causing further cross-infection.
