World Pest Day Announcement: Rentokil Initial Partners with BOMA China to Jointly Release the Chinese Version of the Pest Control Best Practice Guide

June 6, 2026, Shanghai — As one of the co-initiators of World Pest Day, Rentokil Initial, a global provider of pest control and environmental hygiene services, officially announced that it will jointly release the Chinese version of the Pest Control Best Practice Guide with BOMA China.

With the advent of the era of space operation, the refined management of building assets has become a key indicator for measuring core competitiveness. However, traditional pest control management is often regarded as a peripheral matter of logistical services, and mostly adopts a passive "disinfect pests when they appear" approach. In fact, pest control is not only about the daily cleaning of the space, but also an important basic management capability that directly affects the brand image of commercial assets, tenant health, compliance risks, ESG (environmental, social and governance) performance, and overall operating costs.

This time, Rentokil Initial, together with BOMA China, jointly released the "Best Practice Guide for Pest Control", aiming to introduce internationally mature pest control management systems into China's commercial real estate and asset management industry, promote the comprehensive upgrading of the industry from an asset-level perspective, and help build a green, healthy and safe operating environment.

Addressing industry pain points and breaking through traditional pest control management bottlenecks

Currently, the domestic commercial real estate and asset management industry generally faces five core bottlenecks in pest control management:

  • Focusing primarily on post-incident disinfection: Lacking a systematic prevention and management mechanism, "firefighting-style" disinfection is insufficient to eradicate hidden dangers;
  • Inconsistent standards: Management processes are fragmented, lacking unified operational standards across projects and regions;
  • Insufficient data and trend analysis: Lack of digital monitoring tools makes it difficult to support forward-looking operational decisions;
  • Supplier management is lax: there is a lack of scientific and quantitative evaluation standards, resulting in inconsistent service quality and difficulty in traceability;
  • Disconnected from asset management: Pest control work has not been incorporated into the asset-level risk governance framework, and cannot form a strategic synergy with asset appreciation and risk prevention and control.

Leading a paradigm shift: From "passive disinfection" to "asset-level risk governance"

To overcome these limitations, in July 2026, Nengduojie will collaborate with BOMA China to release a Chinese version of the "Best Practices Guide for Pest Control," and will simultaneously hold a professional seminar to interpret the guide. The implementation of this guide will comprehensively support the industry in aligning with leading international pest control management standards, and drive the industry to achieve a strategic upgrade from "passive pest control" to a "systematic, preventative, data-driven, and multi-scenario collaborative asset-level pest risk management system."

Empowering Asset Appreciation: Four Core Values and Full-Cycle Implementation Tools

As a systematic international management tool, the Chinese version of the "Best Practices Guide for Pest Control" will bring four core values to domestic commercial real estate projects: By standardizing pest management, it helps property managers effectively reduce asset risks caused by pests and minimize the negative impact of pest incidents on tenant experience, brand image, and long-term asset value; it reshapes systemic governance capabilities and guides the establishment of auditable and traceable standardized management processes; it optimizes the input-output ratio and significantly reduces medium- and long-term operating costs by relying on preventive management and data analysis; and it practices health, safety, and ESG principles, strictly controls the risks of chemical use, and improves the quality of the building's healthy environment.

This guide systematically constructs a pest control approach that prioritizes prevention and utilizes multiple effective management methods, covering a complete management loop from policy formulation, risk prevention, emergency response, process monitoring to outsourcing collaboration. It provides both a macro-level framework for scientific pest control management and detailed procedures for daily processes such as protection, monitoring, inspection, and auditing. It also includes numerous practical tool templates to ensure that project operation teams can quickly get started and seamlessly implement the system, truly achieving a systematic upgrade from reactive to proactive management.
